The ICT4S conferences bring together leading researchers in ICT for Sustainability with government and industry representatives, including decision-makers with an interest in using ICT for sustainability, researchers focusing on ICT effects on sustainability and developers of sustainable ICT systems or applications.
The first ICT4S was held in Zurich in February 2013 under the theme “The challenge of making it real”. The conference was an immediate success with 50 scientific papers and almost 300 participants in total. The webpage of that conference, including final recommendations, can be found here at 2013.ict4s.org.
The 2nd International Conference ICT for Sustainability was held 2014 in Stockholm (2014.ict4s.org). The theme of the 2014 conference was “ICT and transformational change”. Sustainable development needs transformational changes both in technology and in our patterns of production and consumption. This conference continued to explore and shape the role of ICT for sustainability, including assessments of both positive and negative impacts.
The 3rd International Conference ICT for Sustainability was held as a joint conference with EnviroInfo, the 7-9 September 2015 in Copenhagen.
The 4th International Conference ICT for Sustainability will be held in Amsterdam (ICT4S 2016) and will be held August 30 – September 2, 2016 with the theme ‘Smart and Sustainable’.
